Quarantine has been especially challenging for many people, I found relief in writing and sharing tips on self-care. Here's the reason why I started blogging during the quarantine.
Covid-19 AKA Miss Rona has truly been a blessing in disguise. Prior to the pandemic, I was interning in Miami and networking with individuals in my career as a Public Relations professional. While I wasn't busy living my best Carrie Bradshaw lifestyle in the city, I attended classes full time, Volunteered, and worked part-time for a non-profit organization for an upcoming fundraising gala. I thought I'd finally figured it out and all dreams were finally coming true. And the lockdown happened.
Day by day, the things I was working towards seem to fade into thin air until they disappeared or got canceled. I felt...lost. Just as I was about to be the Boss Ass B*tch I was meant to be, life threw me a curve ball.
What was my turning point
True Story: One day, I showered, got pampered and dolled up, then took some selfies. I decided that day not to let this hurdle cripple me but instead to utilize this time and opportunity I may never have ever again. (Hopefully) . I pondered on the many things I wish could do before lockdown but didn't have time for.
So I began working out on Facetime with my bestie (get you friends like those). I may not be a great cook but I was determined to learn to eat more at home and save money. I stayed creative by drawing when I could and even became a freelance graphic designer. Lastly, as a public relations major, it is very important to me to keep my skills sharp. I listened to the advice of my mentors and professors in the profession and started writing and editing my own content.
So what did I learn during all this?
You and I truly are in control of our own thoughts, emotions, and actions. Since I started indulging in my passions, anxious thoughts that once clouded my self-worth has become the source of my motivation to practice self-care, build better habits, and work on my personal and professional development. The key to success stems in your own confidence in your skills, assets, and creativity.
Self-care is ultimately self-love. It prepares the individuals who actively practice it physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, to face their biggest challenges head-on and with courage.
Most importantly, who doesn't love a great bubble bath, a glass of champagne, and a good book? I know I do!
I am starting this blog to share with ambitious women like myself how to practice #selfcare, build better habits for themselves, and tips on personal and professional development. I am so excited to share with you what I've learned thus far and everything else I have yet to learn.
